From May, spodumene buyers and sellers began to negotiate for the long-term contracts in H2 2013 and it is reported that spodumene suppliers intended to raise prices further. In May, demand from lithium battery industry was relatively strong. However, demand from glass ceramics, fine chemicals, oil grease sectors was slow. During May, industrial grade lithium carbonate producers who extract materials from brine lowered prices first, and then those producers who get industrial grade lithium carbonate from spodumene followed suit to reduce prices, leading to continuously lower prices. At the end of May, battery grade lithium carbonate price fell slightly.
