In April, steel industry still did not show any improvement, and the refractory market ran slowly. The price of brown fused alumina dropped by around RMB50/t (USD8/t), while the price of white fused alumina hold steady after a decrease in March. Fused alumina market saw slow purchase activities. Export market was still quiet, and export price faced a downward pressure due to RMB rapid appreciation. There was no improvement in European market, and American consumers still relied on inventories with very few trading from China suppliers.
