Prices of wire rod and rebar in most domestic markets kept a downward trend in April when is the traditional high season for construction steel consumption. Because the demand from downstream industries did not release while prices of raw materials continued decreasing, wire rod and rebar traders were forced to cut quotations time and time again. Besides, steel mills did not reduce outputs greatly, so the supply was still sufficient. Observers predict that prices of wire rod and rebar will go down further in May but the markdown will be narrow.
