Metals Range visits Asian Metal

On May 29th, Mr. Bart Udeshi, Manager of BD Department of Metals Range visited Asian Metal Beijing office and discussed the silicon metal, magnesium, antimony and cobalt markets with Ms Susan Yin, Ms Daphne Zhang, Ms Anna Xu and Ms Joy Kong respectively. Asian Metal will hold the 8th “Minor Metals Summit” in October 2013 and Bart claimed that he will try to attend it if time allows.
Bart and Susan Yin, senior analyst of silicon products in Minor Metals Department of Asian Metal, discussed Chinese silicon metal trend in the coming rainy season. According to Bart, Indian annual Silicon metal consumption is about 30000 tons per year. Silicon is mainly used in India in the Aluminum industry, however a very small quantity is also used in Silane chemicals and Stainless Steel industries. Recently, demand for silicon metal in India was stable.
Bart exchanged viewpoints with Annabella Xu – the Antimony Market Analyst in Asian Metal during his visit of Asian Metal. Bart confirmed that the demand for antimony in Indian market shrunk in recent two years on low economic. About the Indian antimony producers, Bart revealed there are a few producers who separate lead and antimony ore or other associated minerals containing antimony or antimony scraps to process them into antimony ingot, and the annual output is very limited. Therefore, most Indian antimony is imported, mainly from China.
Daphne Zhang, analysts of magnesium metal in the Minor Metals Department of Asian Metal, revealed that the current international economic environment is still depressed, and foreign buyers purchased cautiously for lack of confidence to current market trend. At the same time, Bart expressed the current magnesium market was complicated and confusing, and he was less optimistic to the market trend as is the more, rather worrisome price trend of the price.
Bart communicated with Joy Kong from Minor Metals Department of Asian Metal about the current cobalt market. Impacted by slowly moving economy, demand is weak in Indian cobalt market. He reported that their monthly trading volume of cobalt metal is five to six tons. They mainly deal in Zambian cobalt metal and sell in Indian domestic market.
