Kimbo Bauxite starts port construction project

On March 22, 2019, the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Kimbo & Co. Port project run by La Societe de Kimbo de Bauxite ("Kimbo Bauxite") was held at the port construction base along the Guemeyire River in Tamita, a country in Guinea's Boffa Prefecture. The personal representative of the President of Guinea, along with relevant government officials and media personnel, attended the ceremony.
Governor of Boffa Prefecture, Boke government officials, and local populace attended the ceremony.
The personal representative of the President of Guinea, representative of the minister of mining, Governor of Boffa Prefecture, chief engineer from Yantai Port Group Co., Ltd., President of Top International Holding Pte., Ltd., and CEO of Kimbo Bauxite spoke at the ceremony.
Kimbo & Co. Port project will build a port and supporting facilities along the Guemeyire River. The two berths planned to be build each has a designed capacity of 10Mtpa and reserve capacity of 15 Mtpa. Kimbo Bauxite will speed up the construction of the port under the premise of a reliable design and construction quality. The phase I project is scheduled to go into operation in June 2019. Kimbo & Co. Port is joint venture among Kimbo Bauxite, China-based Yantai Port Group and Singapore-based Top International Holding. The construction, ownership and operation of river port and its supporting facilities in Guinea is the most critical link in the supply chain of bauxite from Guinea to China.
Kimbo's bauxite project is located inside FRIA Prefecture of Boke Region and is expected to produce 10 million tonnes of bauxite within this year. An alumina refinery with production capacity of 3Mtpa is planned to be built near the project in the future. The project has been running smoothly since formal production commenced in 2017, with its first shipment of bauxite to China expected to depart from Kimbo & Co. Port this June.
