As Chinese traditional Spring Festival Holiday comes in February from Feb 9 to Feb 15, this month both Chinese domestic and international tantalum and niobium markets see rare transactions
During the Long Holiday, as the deals in the market halt, prices for tantalum concentrate stay at USD115/lb and niobium concentrate prices stay at USD18-20/lb CIF China. There is almost no deal of metallurgical grade tantalum oxide, with suppliers note offering initially although there are several inquiries. The dealing prices are about RMB2,100/kg (USD337/kg). Niobium oxide demand is better than tantalum oxide, with prices staying at RMB330-340/kg . Plants which are majored in processing for others note that they can still receive orders after the Long Holiday.
. Most of domestic participants go into their Holiday in advance and end their Holiday delayed . They stop purchasing tantalum raw materials, and there is either no consumer to place orders . In addition, the market in Q1 2013 is dim . The whole market situation is not optimistic . Consumers chose to resume production after the Lantern Festival (Feb 24) . Some middle sized processors resumed in early March.
