Prices of wire rod and rebar in China kept moving down greatly this month, when is the traditional slow season, as the demand from end users kept shrinking and prices of raw materials ran in a strong decreasing trend. Steel mills were facing a sluggish market and traders’ pessimistic attitude, so they cut prices time and time again. There will be more rainy and hot days in August, so the operation of construction projects is unlikely to run normally and the demand for wire rod and rebar will remain soft. Observers predict that prices will show a fluctuating down trend in August.
