Selenium price starts to rebound in January where demand improves a bit. Many traders stop replenishing selenium or selenium dioxide late last year when the market ran slow and they held very low inventory at hand. Some buyers return to the market before Spring Festival to rebuild stocks but as supply of the material is tight, selenium price rebounds gradually. Pushed by high production cost, selenium dioxide prices rise quickly though downstream manganese market stays quiet in January. Major suppliers are in no hurry to sell before Spring Festival when it is difficult for them to import at an attractive price.
