HBIS becomes world's second largest steel producer

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 Mar 11 – In 2010, Hebei Province-based Chinese steel producer Hebei Iron and Steel Group (HBIS)’s production of crude steel achieved 44.78 million tons. It ranked the first in domestic steel mills and just second in the world, following Arcelor Mittal Group.
Recently, on the China Steel Industry Restructuring and Development Summit Forum, the chairman of HBIS expressed that the success of HBIS was to slove steel industry difficulties by the implementation of the joint reorganization.
HBIS was formed by original Tangshan Iron and Steel Group and Handan Iron and Steel Group on June 30, 2008. From the end of 2007 to 2010, HBIS's steel production increased to 44.78 million tons from 31.08 million tons, and the total assets rose to 148 billion Yuan from 282.8 billion Yuan. In addition, in 2010, HBIS holdings Shijiazhuang Steel, restructures XuanGong Machinery and recombinates 12 private steel enterprises through the method of progressive share fusion.
