  • Hydro to close two U.S. extrusion plants in 2027

    2026-06-23 10:23:26   [Print]
Hydro has announced plans to shut down its Extrusion North America facilities in City of Industry, California, and Delhi, Louisiana, over the course of 2027.

Operations at the California plant will cease on January 1, 2027, with minor residual activity continuing through the first quarter. The Louisiana facility is scheduled to halt production on April 1, 2027, and will be fully wound down by the third quarter.

The closures will affect approximately 350 employees, who will receive transition assistance and have the option to transfer to other regional sites. The company cited low capacity utilization and the need for substantial capital upgrades as key factors behind the decision.

To avoid disruptions to customer supply, Hydro has begun shifting manufacturing workloads and retooling other North American locations. The company expects to complete the production transfer by the end of the first quarter of 2027, aiming to optimize long-term operational efficiency.
