The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission has initiated an anti-dumping (AD) investigation into imports of zinc-coated (galvanized) steel from South Korea and Vietnam. The probe was requested by domestic steelmaker BlueScope Steel Limited, which alleged that these products were sold in Australia below normal value, thereby causing material injury to the local industry.
The investigation covers the period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, while the injury examination period began on January 1, 2022.
The inquiry applies to flat-rolled iron or steel products, whether in coils or sheets, with thicknesses ranging from 0.3 mm to 3.5 mm, in any width. These products must have a zinc coating that makes up 50% or more of the total coating composition. Excluded from the investigation are painted, pre-painted, electro-galvanized, and corrugated products, as well as those coated with aluminum-zinc alloys where aluminum accounts for 50% or more of the composition.
The subject goods fall under the following customs codes: 7210.49.00.55, 7210.49.00.56, 7210.49.00.57, 7210.49.00.58, 7212.30.00.61, 7225.92.00.38, and 7226.99.00.71.
The commission plans to release the Statement of Essential Facts (SEF) by September 9, 2026, with the final recommendation due by October 26, 2026.
