Hoa Phat Group has expressed interest in partnering with other major Vietnamese companies, including Vinacomin and THACO, to study and redevelop the Thach Khe iron mine project in Hà T?nh province.
The site holds more than 500 million tonnes of reserves, with the potential to supply high-quality ore for premium steel production.
Local authorities have previously delayed operations at the mine due to concerns over environmental impact, safety, and infrastructure. Hoa Phat has stated that the ongoing delay is leading to a waste of natural resources and increased reliance on imports. The company argues that only large domestic firms possess the necessary financial capacity and technical expertise to move the project forward, particularly given the mine's strategic importance to national security.
