China has made fresh progress in its latest round of strategic mineral exploration, with new discoveries in Sichuan and Gansu provinces, the Ministry of Natural Resources said.
Newly identified resources include rare earths, fluorite, barite and antimony. In Mianning County, Sichuan, exploration at the Maoniuping mining area confirmed resources containing about 9.67 million tonnes of rare earth oxides, along with 27.14 million tonnes of fluorite (CaF2) and 37.23 million tonnes of barite (BaSO4). In Dangchang County, Gansu, an exploration project in the Washigou area identified resources containing more than 51,455 tonnes of antimony.
