Major Chinese steel mills' daily finished steel output rises in late Jan

Major Chinese steel mills produced around 21.3 million tonnes of finished steel during the last eleven-day period of January 2026, with the daily average output of 1,936,000 tonnes, up by 3.2% from mid-January, according to China Iron & Steel Association (CISA).
By the end of the period, finished steel inventories at major mills stood at 14.71 million tonnes, a decrease of 1.42 million tonnes, or 8.8%, from mid-January.
