Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has released its "15th Five-Year Plan" for mineral exploration breakthroughs. Over the 2026-2030 period, the region aims to use artificial intelligence to boost high-quality development in non-ferrous and critical metals. The plan focuses on nine critical metals, including tin, antimony, and indium, as well as nonferrous metals like aluminum, copper, and zinc.
Focusing on discovering new resources while boosting reserves in existing mining areas, the plan targets geological surveys and exploration in three major metallogenic zones: northeast, southeast, and western Guangxi, plus the Nandan–Kunlunguan metallogenic belt.
By 2030, Guangxi aims to achieve high-quality development in its non-ferrous and critical metals sector, strengthen mineral resource security, achieve 59% coverage in basic geological surveys, identify 20-30 exploration targets, discover 8-10 new medium-to-large deposits, and add new critical metal resources.
