Chongqing Bofeng to build 180ktpa aluminum project via capacity replacement

The Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission has released details of the capacity replacement plan for a 180,000tpa aluminum project by Chongqing Bofeng Aluminum Co., Ltd., along with the corresponding capacity closures by Chongqing Tiantai Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Guofeng Industrial Co., Ltd.
Chongqing Bofeng plans to install 168 units of 400KA electrolytic cells in Fuling District's Baitao Industrial Park, with production scheduled to begin on October 30, 2026.
As part of the capacity swap, Guofeng Industrial and Tiantai Aluminum will respectively shut down 124 units of 240KA cells and 126 units of 300KA cells, removing a total of 180,000tpa of existing capacity.
