The Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission has approved the first batch of nonferrous metal mining projects in Tongliao, including the Maoxigadaban Ag-Pb-Zn-Cu mine developed by Inner Mongolia Huakan Zhuhe Geological Consulting Co., Ltd., and a 300,000tpa lead-zinc mining and processing project by Tongliao Jinyuanfeng Mining Co., Ltd. in the Saibuer area of Zhalute Banner.
The Maoxigadaban project, with a total investment of RMB218 million (USD30.84 million), will use advanced bulk flotation and separation techniques to efficiently recover lead, zinc, copper and associated silver. At full capacity, it is expected to produce 3,780 tonnes of lead concentrate, 5,820 tonnes of zinc concentrate, 3,930 tonnes of copper concentrate and 8.6 tonnes of silver annually, creating more than 150 jobs.
The Saibuer lead-zinc project is expected to generate about RMB100 million (USD14.15 million) in annual revenue and provide over 180 jobs once fully operational.
Zhalute Banner is rich in nonferrous resources, with current reserves of 63,400 tonnes of copper, 167,900 tonnes of lead and 455,000 tonnes of zinc, and hosts seven nonferrous mining enterprises.
