Xinjiang Qiya updates 210ktpa aluminum capacity replacement plan

Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum & Electricity Co., Ltd. plans to install 156 prebaked anode electrolytic cells (500 kA) at the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone, adding 210,000 tonnes per annum of primary aluminum smelting capacity. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2025, with production targeted for December 2026, according to the latest capacity replacement program released by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
As part of the capacity replacement scheme, Yunnan Qiya Metal Co., Ltd. will retire an equivalent 210,000 tpa of aluminum capacity in 2026.
