China's nonferrous metals growth plan to boost magnesium alloy use

China recently unveiled a plan to support the steady growth of the non-ferrous metals industry, targeting an average annual growth of around 5% in the sector's value-added output from 2025 to 2026, with the output of ten major non-ferrous metals growing by around 1.5% annually, and that of recycled metals exceeding 20 million tonnes.
The plan emphasizes innovation in high-end products, aiming to improve the performance of aluminum and magnesium alloy materials. The plan also promotes upgrading metal consumption, expanding the use of magnesium alloys in NEV forged wheels, large castings, and motor housings. Additionally, it encourages active participation in setting international standards for lithium, rare earths, and magnesium.
