Huayou Cobalt sells 25% stake in cathode materials JV to Toyota Tsusho

On September 8, Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. signed a share transfer agreement with Toyota Tsusho Corporation to sell its 25% stake in LG-HY BCM Co., Ltd. ("BCM") for approximately USD121 million. Following the deal, Huayou's stake in BCM will fall to 24%, while the company expects to record an investment gain of around RMB473 million (USD66.34 million).
The transaction is intended to meet U.S. and EU market entry requirements, while bringing in Toyota Tsusho as a strategic shareholder to optimize BCM's ownership structure and further strengthen its competitiveness in the U.S. cathode materials market.
