First manganese-based materials production line begins operation in Hubei

On July 27, Hubei Boyang New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Anhui Boshi Hi-Tech New Materials Co., Ltd. commissioned its manganese-based new energy materials production line located in Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, the first of its kind in Hubei Province. The project's first pilot products rolled off the line in May, and full production began after two months of testing and process optimization. Once fully completed, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 280,000 tonnes, supplying materials for NEVs, 3C electronics, and energy storage applications.
Changyang is one of China's top eight manganese-rich regions, with reserves exceeding 50 million tonnes. In 2024, the county partnered with Anhui Boshi to build the first specialized manganese materials base in Hubei, which is also Boshi's first plant in the province. Covering about 400 Mu (26.67 hectares), the project will be built in three phases and is expected to generate RMB10 billion (USD139 million) in annual output and over RMB500 million (USD69.5 million) in tax revenue once fully operational.
