Nanfang Donghai starts trial production at premium steel project

On July 24, Guangdong Nanfang Donghai Steel Co., Ltd. commissioned its premium steel project located at Guangdong Metal Intelligent Manufacturing Park in Yunfu City, with the new 1,650mm hot rolling mill now operational. When fully completed, the project would produce 7.2 million tonnes of premium steel annually, generate 40 billion yuan (5.58 billion US dollars) in output value, contribute 2 billion yuan (279 million US dollars) in profits and taxes, and create over 5,000 jobs.
The project uses advanced electric arc furnace technology and a short-process method to recycle steel scrap for green steelmaking. Future plans include expanding into deep processing, producing high-quality carbon structural steel, cold-rolled steel for stamping, steel for new energy vehicles, corrosion-resistant steel, and high-strength steel.
