China ramps up heavy metal risk investigation and cleanup efforts

On July 25, China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, along with other relevant agencies, held a video conference to discuss efforts to identify and address heavy metal pollution risks. The meeting highlighted that heavy metal pollution remains a serious challenge, hindering the ongoing improvement of the country's environmental quality.
Officials stressed that all regions and departments must actively carry out thorough inspections and cleanups of heavy metal hazards. The approach should be practical, science-based, and carefully planned to ensure precise and steady progress. Following a clear process of inspection, assessment, correction, treatment, prevention, and management, a comprehensive effort must be launched to find and fix environmental risks linked to heavy metals.
