On April 23, SERES debuts the world's largest integrated die-cast magnesium alloy rear car body, which is ready for mass production. This achievement was developed in collaboration with Chongqing University, Baowu Magnesium, and Beijing University of Science and Technology.
The successful trial production of the ultra-large integrated die-cast magnesium alloy rear car body marks a significant milestone, taking the magnesium alloy rear car body from individual components to a full vehicle, and transitioning from laboratory research to mass production. This development involves 48 key technical challenges, with 12 of them representing groundbreaking breakthroughs in the industry. Compared to traditional aluminum alloy solutions, this innovation achieves a 21.8% weight reduction and an overall performance improvement of over 10%.
The ultra-large integrated die-cast magnesium alloy rear car body developed by SERES is produced using a large-scale die-casting production system with a capacity of several thousand tons. This new technology delivers breakthroughs in several areas, including weight reduction, performance enhancement, and environmental impact: the body's weight is reduced by 21.8%, overall performance is improved by 10%, carbon emissions over the full lifecycle are reduced by 15%, electromagnetic shielding performance is doubled, and damping and shock absorption effects are enhanced by 25 times. The application of this new car body structure not only sets a benchmark for the industry with the mass-produced model, the Wenjie M9, but also lays the foundation for the future use of this efficient design across the entire vehicle lineup.
