GEM to increase NCM precursor production capacity in Indonesia

GEM announced that it plans to expand production capacity of high-nickel NCM precursor at its Indonesian plant from the initial 30,000tpa to 50,000tpa, in a bid to meet growing demand from Europe, U.S. and other overseas markets.
The initial 30,000tpa high-nickel NCM precursor project has completed construction and secured mid-and-long term orders from global clients, the company said in a statement.
The new project, with a planned area of 112Mu (7.47 hectares), will build a manufacturing plant with capacity 50,000tpa of high-nickel NCM precursor, which will be supplied to major power battery producers. Construction of the project is expected to be completed before October 2025. The total investment for the project is estimated at RMB2.15 billion (USD293 million).
