3.2Mtpa alumina project breaks ground in Chongqing

On January 2, a special aluminum new material circular economy industry project broke ground in Fengdu, Chongqing.
With a total investment of RMB9.6 billion (USD1.32 billion), the project will build two production lines for special aluminum new materials, each with production capacity of 1.6 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of alumina, for a total production capacity of 3.2Mtpa. The project will also be able to produce 100t of gallium metal and 620,000t of iron concentrate annually. When fully operational, it is expected to achieve an annual production value of RMB18 billion (USD2.47 billion).
