The company commenced production last year and has produced more than 8,400 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate to date, with its annual production expected to reach 11,000 tonnes in 2024. At Ruoqiang County, the annual production of battery-grade lithium carbonate is expected to exceed 16,000 tonnes this year.
Ruoqiang county, located in southeastern Xinjiang, is rich in lithium resources, with an estimated lithium oxide resources of over 2.8 million tonnes . The county has increased lithium exploration over the years, while its resources are not being fully utilized so far.
In 2024, Ruoqiang county purchased lithium concentrate from domestic lithium-rich regions such as Hetian and Sichuan, as well as lithium concentrate imported from Australia, to ensure the supply of raw materials for lithium carbonate production at Xinjiang Zhicun. About 20,000t of Australian-origin lithium concentrate has been shipped to the company, with more shipments of over 20,000t planned.
