Sinomine completes acquisition of Tsumeb copper smelter

On August 30, Sinomine (Hong Kong) Rare Metals Resources Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Sinomine Resource Group Co., Ltd., completed the acquisition of 98% equity interest in Tsumeb smelter held by Dundee Precious Metals Inc.
The Tsumeb smelter, located in Namibia, is one of a few smelters globally that can treat complex polymetallic concentrates, including those with higher arsenic content. It is capable of processing 260,000 tonnes of concentrates annually to produce blister copper, with sulphuric acid as a by-product.
According to initial testing results, existing tailings stored at the Tsumeb smelter also have relatively high content of germanium. After close of the acquisition, Sinomine expects to conduct a feasibility study on the smelting of germanium metal from tailings produced at Tsumeb.
