Tengyuan Cobalt to build refined nickel and cobalt project

Tengyuan Cobalt plans to invest around RMB511 million (USD71.77 million) to build a 30,000tpa refined nickel and 3,000tpa refined cobalt project in Ganxian District, Ganzhou, Jiangxi, with a construction period of 18 months, and expects it to come on stream in December 2025.
When fully operational, the project will be able to produce 3,000tpa of refined cobalt 99.95%min, containing 2,998.5t of cobalt, and 30,000tpa of refined nickel 99.96%min, containing 29,988t of nickel. It also has an annual production capacity of 24,322t of sodium hypochlorite, which is subject to national standard GB/T6009-2003.
The company said it will soon have hydrometallurgical smelting capacity of 23,000tpa of cobalt and 50,000tpa of nickel, while its production capacities of 120,000tpa of NCM precursor and 20,000tpa of cobalt oxide are not fully released, so they plan to sell refined nickel and cobalt products, using nickel sulfate and cobalt chloride as raw materials, in a bid to boost liquidity.
