GEM's 10ktpa cobalt flake project begins production

On July 31, GEM announced the commencement of production at its 10,000tpa cobalt flake production line in Jingmen, Hubei.
GEM started to build the cobalt flake project in April 2023 and put the first phase into operation five months later in September.
The newly-operated production line is the second phase of the project, capable of producing cobalt metal flake grading more than 99.95% of cobalt.
Both two phases of the project adopt electrowinning process and use highly concentrated cobalt chloride extracted from nickel-cobalt hydroxide imported from Indonesia as the raw material to produce cobalt flake.
