Tranvic Group decreases construction steel production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 May 24 - Sichuan Tranvic Group Co. (Tranvic Group), a major construction steel producer in Southwest China, reduced the production to about 140,000t in April, says a source of the company.
"We reduced the production of construction steel from about 300,000t in March to around 140,000t in April due to the decreased supply of raw materials caused by the blast furnace maintenance," reveals the source. According to him, they have a stockpile of about 30,000t in hand now, unchanged from last month.
Based on the annual production capacity of about six million tonnes of construction steel, Tranvic Group produced almost five million tonnes in 2023 and around 1.04 million tonnes in Jan-Apr of 2024.
In Chengdu, the mainstream prices of rebar HRB400E Φ20mm from Tranvic Group hovered at about RMB3,630/t (USD501/t) on Tuesday, the same as those on Monday. Insiders predict that Chinese construction steel prices would go down in the coming week on soft demand.
