BMI to expand calcined bauxite production capacity

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Apr 24 - Bautek Minerals Industrials (BMI), a major bauxite producer in Brazil, plans to expand the calcined bauxite production capacity from 60,000tpy to 80,000tpy since the Q4 this year, a source from the company reports to Asian Metal.
"Our calcined bauxite production capacity would improve to 80,000tpy from the Q4 this year," says the source, adding that they will launch a new kiln. The production volume in April would reach around 1,800t, up from around 1,500t in March and they hold few stocks now.
With present three kilns and the production capacity of 60,000tpy, they produced close to 7,000t so far this year and around 26,000t in total last year.
Current mainstream prices for calcined bauxite 87%min keep at USD370-400/t FOB Brazil, the same as two weeks ago. Due to the tight supply in China, producers keep confident in the price now.
