BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Apr 24 - Stimulated by the short supply and increased prices of raw materials, the current mainstream prices of calcium silicon 30-60 10-50mm in China moved up by RMB200/t (USD29/t) to RMB10,700-11,000/t (USD1,478-1,519/t) EXW D/A 180 days against early last week. Given the firm prices from suppliers, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of calcium silicon 30-60 10-50mm in China would keep firm next week.
A consumer in Henan discloses that he bought 60t of calcium silicon 30-60 10-50mm at RMB11,200/t (USD1,547/t) delivered D/A 180 days on Wednesday with the freight of RMB200/t (USD29/t) from a regular supplier who accepted RMB11,000/t (USD1,519/t) early last week. "The supplier moved prices up this week as the supplier's output in April would reduce by half against March", reveals the consumer. He adds that most suppliers hold prices firm, and he predicts that the mainstream prices of calcium silicon 30-60 10-50mm in China would maintain firm next week.
With an annual calcium silicon consumption capacity of 3,600t, the consumer holds about 100t in stock and expects to consume about 200t in April, unchanged from March. His consumption in 2023 reaches about 3,000t.
A trader in Gansu reveals that he bought 30t of calcium silicon 30-60 10-50mm at RMB11,000/t (USD1,519/t) delivered to Tianjin D/P on Wednesday with the freight of RMB200/t (USD29/t) from a regular supplier who could accept RMB10,800/t (USD1,491/t) delivered to Tianjin early last week. "I asked the prices of semi coke, and the semi coke increased slightly, and both my two supplier lifted prices this week supported by the increased prices of coke and short supply", reveals the trader. Given the firm prices from suppliers despite the sluggish demand in China, he foresees the mainstream prices of calcium silicon 30-60 10-50mm in China would keep stable next week.
