Xinjiang Hongkun resumes black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Apr 24 - As a major black silicon carbide producer in Xinjiang, Xinjiang Hongkun Solar Energy Technology Co., Ltd., resumed their black silicon carbide production since 10th April, estimate to produce about 800t this month.
"We have been in suspension since late 2023 because of the weak market demand and thin profit. As we almost run out of stocks, we resumed production since early April", a source from the company revealed, adding that they expect to produce about 2,000t in May.
With a yearly production capacity of 25,000t, they produced about 18,000t last year and predict to produce about 10,000t this year in light of the dim end market. They hold about 500t in stock now.
The mainstream prices for black silicon carbide 96%min 10-30cm Fe2O3 0.5%max free C 0.4%max in Xinjiang stand at RMB5,300/t (USD736/t) EXW D/A 180 days, on par with late last week. Despite the weak market demand, supported by the firm costs, they forecast that the mainstream prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would stay stable in the coming week.
