1. Market Highlights
The domestic section steel and steel pipe market performance improved a little during the month, but remained far from satisfactory. The demand from downstream industries kept soft with the low operating rates of downstream projects. Besides, end users remained cautious about purchasing seeing the downward price trend. In addition, most of them reported insufficient orders for final products and thus were inactive in production. As prices of raw materials went down continuously, the cost support for finished steel weakened. Reporting profits, steel mills turned to active in production late this month after the production cut in the first half of the month. Discouraged by the poor sales performance, both steel mills and traders showed little confidence in the market prospect.
