Guangzhou Kaineng to start commercial production of chrome concentrate in Zimbabwe

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Apr 24 - Guangzhou Kaineng Investment Co., as an importer of Zimbabwean chrome ore in China, would start commercial production of chrome concentrate at the end of April in Zimbabwe.

With a monthly processing capacity of 6,000t of dressing plant, the company would import about 1,000t of chrome ore in April. Zimbabwe's government has banned the export of raw chrome ore.
The current mainstream prices of Zimbabwean chrome concentrate 48%min stand at USD365-375/t CIF China, up by about USD5/t from two weeks ago. Most buyers purchase from hand to mouth. Given that most suppliers have no intention to adjust prices, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Zimbabwean chrome concentrate would keep stable in the week to come.
