BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Apr 24 - Chinese battery grade lithium carbonate suppliers hold their prices stable today under stable prices of raw material
A producer in Hunan offers RMB112,500/t (USD15,548/t) delivered D/P and could consider a concession of RMB500/t (USD69.1/t) for lithium carbonate 99 . 5%min, Na 0 . 025%max, K 0 . 001%max in the morning of Tuesday, the same as Monday. They close no deal today and sold 30t at RMB112,300/t (USD15,520/t) yesterday afternoon. "Our cost remains higher than RMB110,000/t (USD15,202/t) delivered D/P now based on the prices of raw material", said the producer, adding that demand of cathode producers records better than that of March and they got active inquiries now . But given that consumers have difficulties in accepting higher prices, they predict that the prevailing prices of Chinese battery grade lithium carbonate would go up in the coming days.
With an annual production capacity of 10,000t, they plan to produce about 500t this month, the same as last month. They hold about 30t of stocks for the time being.
"We refuse prices lower than RMB116,000/t (USD16,031/t) for lithium carbonate 99.5%min, Na 0 . 025%max, K 0 . 001%max from yesterday . But consumers couldn't accept our price", complained another producer in Hunan, adding that they purchased 90t of lithium carbonate 99 . 6%min, Na 0 . 01%max, K 0.003%max at RMB110,500/t (USD15,271/t) EXW D/P last month as raw material. The producer states that they could avoid losses only when they are able to sell battery-grade lithium carbonate at prices higher than RMB116,000/t (USD16,031/t). They failed to close any deal this month and last sold 60t at RMB119,000/t (USD16,446/t) delivered D/A 180 days last month. Given that their consumers hold sufficient stocks and have no plan to buy, but prices of raw material stay firm, they anticipate that the mainstream prices of Chinese battery grade lithium carbonate would stand at the current level in the coming days,
Based on an annual production capacity of 5,000t, they estimate to produce about 300t this month, in line with last month. They hold around 350t in the warehouse at the moment.

Given that producers plan to hold their prices firm, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinee battery grade lithium carbonate would hover at the current level in the coming couple of days.
