Shunying Power Battery Material increases nickel sulfate production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Apr 24 - Sichuan Shunying Power Battery Material Co., Ltd., one of the major battery-grade nickel sulfate Ni 22%min, Co 0.4%max producers in Southwest China, increased its output to about 1,100t in March.
"During the Spring Festival holiday in February, our operating rate remained low and the output of battery-grade nickel sulfate was only about 800t. In March, the demand for battery-grade nickel sulfate was strong, and the price kept rising. We increased the operating rate to the maximum and originally planned to produce about 1,500t, but the actual production was only around 1,100t due to insufficient supply of nickel hydroxide", a source from the company said, adding that they mainly use nickel hydroxide to produce battery-grade nickel sulfate.
With an annual production capacity of 25,000t, the producer saw an output of 12,200t or so in 2023 and holds no nickel sulfate inventory now.
This Tuesday, mainstream prices for Chinese battery-grade nickel sulfate Ni 22%min, Co 0.4%max stood at RMB30,500-31,000/t (USD4,217-4,286/t) delivered D/A, in line with last Friday. Insiders noted that the current nickel hydroxide market is in short supply and battery-grade nickel sulfate producers have a strong willingness to raise prices, and expect that the prices of Chinese battery-grade nickel sulfate would keep flat in the coming week.
