Xinjiang Tianhongji resumes green silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Mar 24 - As a major green silicon carbide producer in Xinjiang, Xinjaing Tianhongji Technology Co., Ltd., resumes the green silicon carbide production since 2nd March and they expect to produce about 700t in March.
"Because of the severe air pollution control policy from the local government, we suspended production since late November. And we resumed production since 2nd March after the control finished", a source from the company reveals, noting that they plan to produce around 700t in March.
Having a yearly production capacity of 50,000t, they produced about 9,000t in 2023 and expects to produce about same in 2024. They hold around 600t in stock at present.
The current mainstream prices of green silicon carbide 98.5%min 10-30cm Fe2O3 0.45%max free C 0.18%max stand at RMB10,400/t (USD1,449/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Xinjiang, in line with late last week. Despite the dim end market, in light of the firm production costs, insiders hold the view that the mainstream prices of Chinese green silicon carbide would stay steady in the week to come.
