Dazhou Steel to expand construction steel production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Mar 24 - Sichuan Dazhou Iron and Steel Co. (Dazhou Steel), a major producer of construction steel in Southwest China, would expand the production to around 290,000t in March.
"We would raise the output of construction steel from about 250,000t in February to around 290,000t this month due to increased orders," said a source of the company, who also told that they have zero stock in hand at present, unchanged from last month.
Based on the annual production capacity of about 3.5 million tonnes of construction steel, Dazhou Steel produced around 3.34 million tonnes last year and about 545,000t in Jan-Feb of 2024.
The mainstream prices of rebar HRB400E Φ20mm stood at about RMB3,730/t (USD518/t) in Chengdu on Wednesday, down by RMB20/t (USD3/t) from Tuesday. Insiders expect Chinese construction steel prices to go down further in the coming week on weak demand and decreased raw material prices.
