Basic TCs for Chinese zinc concentrate edge down

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 Mar 24 – Most Chinese zinc concentrate sellers decreased basic TCs for zinc concentrate in March supported by tight supply. The mainstream basic TCs for Chinese zinc concentrate 50%min stand at RMB3,600-4,000/metal ton (USD499-554/metal ton) delivered D/P, down by about RMB100-200/metal ton (USD14-28/metal ton) from early in February. Insiders predict that the mainstream basic TCs for Chinese zinc concentrate would keep stable within this month.
"Considering the tight supply of zinc concentrate, we decreased basic TC for zinc concentrate 48%min by about RMB100/metal ton (USD14/metal ton) to about RMB5,100/metal ton (USD706/metal ton) EXW D/P in March", a producer in Fujian noted. They sold about 500 metal tons with TC at RMB5,100/metal ton (USD706/metal ton) in March and sold about 300 metal tons with TC at RMB5,200/metal ton (USD720/metal ton) last month. They predict that the mainstream basic TCs for Chinese zinc concentrate would keep stable within this month.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 25,000 metal tons, plans to produce about 500 metal tons in March, up by about 300 metal tons from February. They produced about 800 metal tons till now in 2024 and produced about 5,500 metal tons in 2023. They hold no inventory at the moment, identical to late last month.
Another producer in Inner Mongolia noted that they decreased basic TC for zinc concentrate 50% by about RMB150/metal ton (USD21/metal ton) to RMB4,050/metal ton (USD561/metal ton) delivered D/P in March. "It is hard for us to negotiate with smelter this month, we predict that the mainstream basic TCs for zinc concentrate would keep flat in April", said the producer, who sold about 2,000 metal tons with TC at RMB4,050/metal ton (USD561/metal ton) in March and sold about 900 metal tons with TC at RMB4,200/metal ton (USD582/metal ton) in February.
On basis of an annual production capacity of 40,000 metal tons of zinc concentrate, the producer plans to produce about 2,300 metal tons in March, up by about 1,400 metal tons from January. They achieved an output of about 3,200 metal tons so far in 2024 and about 20,000 metal tons in 2023. They hold no stocks presently, unchanged MoM.
