Liaoning issues capacity replacement measures for magnesite and magnesia

Liaoning has issued the latest capacity replacement measures for magnesite and magnesia industries as the northeastern Chinese province seeks to further advance the supply-side structural reform, curb overcapacity and promote technical upgrade.

All newly-planned, reconstruction and expansion projects for magnesite flotation and the production of magnesia, including caustic calcined magnesia, dead-burned magnesia, mid-grade magnesia, high-purity magnesia, fused magnesia and synthetic sand, are subject to the measures issued by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Liaoning Province.

According to the measures, magnesia production capacity replacement should be carried out within the capacity cap, which stands at 15 million tonnes, 8.9 million tonnes and 500,000 tonnes per annum for Anshan, Yingkou and Dandong respectively, and that of other cities in Liaoning combined should stay below 600,000 tonnes per annum.Asian Metal Copyright .Asian Metal Copyright All cities should stop capacity replacement when reaching their respective upper limit.
