BGT Group to lead Hotan lithium investment project in Xinjiang

On January 21, BGT Group entered into a cooperation agreement with Hotan administrative office in Xinjiang for strategic investment in the development of lithium salt lake (brine), mine and downstream cathode materials industry, including optimizing lithium extraction process and extending downstream industrial chain.
With a total planned investment of around RMB2 billion (USD278 million), the two sides will cooperate on lithium salt lake (subsurface brine) extraction R&D base project, 10,000tpa salt lake lithium extraction comprehensive utilization project, 150,000tpa spodumene mining, dressing and smelting project, cathode material production project, etc. With support from Hotan administrative office, BGT Group will build the 1,000tpa lithium carbonate pilot-scale lithium salt lake (subsurface brine) extraction project in the region. The initial term for the cooperation is 10 years.
