Wire rod prices in major regions of China saw an upward trend in December mainly supported by higher raw material prices and the price increase in futures market. Prices of rebar in North China and East China went down during the month on weak demand, while those in South China were generally stable. Besides, Chinese export prices of wire rod and rebar moved up during the month due to high prices of steel mills and RMB appreciation.
In the international market, prices of wire rod and rebar in Thailand, Malaysia, India and Vietnam went up during the month mainly supported by increased raw material prices and high prices of steel mills.
