Guazhou Baofeng to add 150ktpa of industrial silicon capacity

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the phase two silicon materials project developed by Guazhou Baofeng Silicon Material Development Co., Ltd. has been accepted by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Gansu Province.
The company plans to build the phase two project at Beidaqiao Industrial Park in Guazhou, Jiuquan, Gansu, with a total investment of RMB7.05 billion (USD986 million), according to the EIA. The project will use locally sourced silica ore as the raw material to produce 150,000t of industrial silicon, 50,000t of high-purity crystalline silicon, 2.5GW of pulled crystals, 2.5GW of slices, 2.5GW of cells and 2.5GW of modules annually. The industrial silicon produced in the phase two project will be used as the raw material for polycrystalline silicon in the first and second phase of the project.
