Supported by producers' bullish attitudes and high production cost, Chinese cobalt metal 99.8%min mainstream prices increased slightly in September. However, the demand of SmCo magnet market still remained weak and consumers still have no confidence on the price trend.
Dragged by softened demand from consumers of cemented carbide industry, Chinese cobalt powder 99.5%min market saw weak demand in September, leading to reducing prices this month.
Although consumers from NCM precursor and cobalt tetroxide 73.5%min industries purchased inactively, supported by high production cost, prices of Chinese cobalt sulfate 20.5%min, cobalt chloride 24%min increased slightly this month. Downstream demand from EV and 3C markets still remained soft.
Discouraged by weak demand of cobalt powder market, Chinese cobalt carbonate 46% prices moved down in September. Consumers still held wait-and-see attitudes towards the price trend and only purchased from hand to mouth.
