China Northern Rare Earth's HRE pilot line reaches scale production

Baotou Rewin Rare Earth Metal Materials Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Northern Rare Earth (Group) High-Tech Co., Ltd., has produced the first batch of heavy rare earth metals products, including gadolinium metal and ferrogadolinium, from its pre-commercial production line, with products already delivered to downstream magnets companies for trial use.
The pilot line was built in 2022 and is now ready for trial production. The production line is equipped with vacuum mid-frequency induction furnace and rare earth molten-salt electrolysis furnace, capable of producing dysprosium metal, terbium metal, gadolinium metal and ferrogadolinium. The pilot line is expected to reach production capacity of 150tpa of HRE metal and alloy products by the end of 2023 and further boost capacity to 350tpa when fully operational.
