China's Jul-Aug lithium battery cathode materials production up by over 20% YoY

China's lithium battery industry maintained a steady growth in July-August period of 2023, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
From July to August, the production of cathode materials, anode materials, battery diaphragm and electrolyte reached 400,000t, 280,000t, 2.5 billion square meters and 180,000t respectively, all recording positive growth of more than 20% from the prior year period. The production of battery grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide was around 90,000t and 50,000t respectively during the period when the average price for battery grade lithium carbonate and battery grade lithium hydroxide (micro powder) was RMB271,000/t (USD37,114/t) and RMB265,000/t (USD36,322/t) respectively.
