Chinese black silicon carbide exporters cut prices

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Apr 23 – Given the soft domestic prices plus the weak overseas demand, most exporters cut their prices this week to compete for orders
An exporter in Tianjin quoted USD930/t FOB China for black silicon carbide 88%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 3%max free C 2.5%max today with no discount, down by USD10/t from early this week. The trader revealed, "Our latest deal dated back to last Friday when we sold about 80t at about USD940/t" . In spite of the weak demand, supported by the hgih domestic prices, they inclined to hold their price and believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep unchanged in the coming week.
Based on a regular monthly trading volume of 500t, they predicted to export about 400t in April, in line with last month. They have no inventory at present.
Another trader in Henan revealed, "We quoted USD940/t FOB China today for black silicon carbide 90%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 2.5%max free C 2.5%max without concessions, dropped by USD10/t from early this week". Their latest deal dated back to late last week when they exported about 40t at around USD990/t CIF Busan . Despite the domestic soft prices, they would stick to their price considering that their suppliers refused to make more discoiunts and thus they believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would keep steady in the week to come.
The exporter, with a typical monthly trading volume of 200t, expects to sell about 120t in April, dopped by nearly 30t from March. They have no inventory at present.
