Chinese titanium slag suppliers optimistic about the market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Apr 23 - Encouraged by active inquiries from most consumers, Chinese titanium slag suppliers remained optimistic about the market in the past week. The mainstream prices of Chinese titanium slag 90%min (Ca 0.3%max,Mg 1.0%max) hover at RMB9,550-9,750/t (USD1,384-1,413/t) EXW D/A 180 days at present, unchanged from early last week. As titanium concentrate prices remain firm, insiders predict that the mainstream prices would keep stable in the coming week.
A producer in North China claimed that encouraged by active inquiries from downstream consumers, they remained optimistic about the market. "We received two inquiries today, while we only received one inquiry in total last week," said the producer, who quotes RMB9,800/t (USD1,420/t) EXW D/A 180 days for titanium slag 90%min (Ca 0.3%max,Mg 1.0%max) and could accept RMB9,700/t (USD1,416/t) for orders no less than 200t at present, unchanged from early last week. They last sold about 200t at around RMB9,700/t (USD1,416/t) to a regular client early last week. As titanium concentrate 55%min price remains firm at around RMB3,200/t (USD464/t), the producer plans to hold their price stable next week and predicts that the titanium slag mainstream prices would remain firm in the coming week.
The producer, based on an annual production capacity of 55,000t, produced almost 40,200t in 2022 and around 15,000t so far in 2023. They expect to produce around 4,000t in April, unchanged from last month. They hold no stock now, the same as last month.
"We have confidence in the market encouraged by firm prices for titanium concentrate and active inquiries from downstream consumers," said another producer in North China, who offer RMB9,700/t (USD1,397/t) EXW D/A 180 days for titanium slag 90%min (Ca 0.3%max,Mg 1.0%max) and could accept RMB9,650/t (USD1,390/t) for orders no less than 100t at the moment, the same as early last week. They received one inquiry so far this week, while they received no inquiry last week. They just sold around 100t to a regular client at about RMB9,650/t (USD1,390/t) early this week.
